1890: Jeremiah Sanborn is elected first president of the Domestic Arts faculty at USAC. This marks the start of the Department of Family Life at USU. Abby Marlatt is one of two women among the first seven faculty at USAC. This marks the start of the history of female faculty in the College of Family Life.

This is a photograph of Abby Marlatt, one of the first women in the Domestic Arts program at USAC in 1890.

1909: Ellen Huntington becomes head of the Domestic Arts Department. She was the first of several women to be head of the Domestic Arts Department and its successors.

This is a photo of Ellen Huntington taken in 1911. She was the first female head of the College of Domestic Arts, an early form of the College of Family Life.

1923: Kappa Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron is created. This was the second Home Economics Student Association at USAC.

This is a piece of a scrapbook from the 1970's commemorating the annual Phi Upsilon Omicron fruit cake bake sale.

1935: President E.G Peterson uses funds from the public works administration to build a new women's building. This was important because it has served as the Family Life Building ever since.

1935: The woman's building at this time also served as the student cafeteria until the 1950's when the Student Union building was built.
