Title

Gustav Becker Scrapbook Page (7 of 11), c. 1917

Description

This scrapbook page features several newspaper articles. Two of the articles discuss Gustav Becker's performance at trap shooting competitions. The article on the far right is a transcript of a speech on Abraham Lincoln by Rev. R. J. Burdette. The lower middle article is a satirical piece where several leading Ogden businessmen state why they "support" prohibition. Gustav Becker states he supports prohibition so he can "move his brewery to Nevada where the hunting is better." The Becker's debated between building their new location in either Elko, Nevada or Evanston, Wyoming. They eventually built the new location in Evanston.
