To avoid further confusion regarding shipping labels and other freight issues, the O.L.I. considered changing the name of the company and its initials. This December 12, 1917 article reports on the discussions taking place regarding this issue. It is noted that U.I.C. will be the new corporate initials and that they cannot be confused with any other railroad in the west.
