. Dear Comrade London:
Your letter of March 4 is received and as I certainly
do not want to get you into trouble with the Macnillan Company,
I will drop the idea of the little volume for the present. What
I cared most to include in it was simply "The Dream of Debs",
which I think was not copyrighted except.in the Review and
"The Apostate", which was published by the Appeal without
copyrighting at all. We might publish each of these later on
in pamphlet form if agreeable to you.
'""" The trouble with our publishing "Human Drift" is that
one really needs to have a liberal education before he can enjoy
it while the others appeal to the ordinary wage-i7orker. I have
had an occasional call for a booklet of yours entitled n<T,he
Tramp" but do not remember to have seen a copy for a long time.
13 it one that you would like to have circulated by the
Socialist locals?
If you ever have occasion to say anything that is too
warm for the other magazines, remember the Review. 7Te are
growing but are not yet able to pay anything like the prlcea
for articles which the big capitalist magazines offer.
Yours fraternally,
C
