Description

Mr. Rolando Murillo talks about his childhood in El Salvador, his move to the United States because of the civil war in his country, his studies, his jobs including his current position at Cache Valley Insurance, working with Hispanic clientele, a job that he speaks both Spanish and English. He also talks about his family and the importance of education. He gives his opinion on social and cultural issues in the U.S. and Utah, including his work with ACELA, Asociación Cultural Educativa Latino Americana, founded in Ogden in 2000 and their work on immigration reform. He talks about the need for diversity in Utah. He talks about “glass ceiling” at some work environments and discrimination. The interview ends with Rolando’s final message to the future generations including a need for education and a desire for greater graduation rates for Latino youths and the desire for this project to include all Latinos, not just those at the university.
