Title

Old Main architectural drawing, 1892

Description

Architectural drawing of Old Main building for second plan designed by architect Carl C. Schaub. In Schaub's plan, the center section is enlarged and the building site moved 72 feet north from being due east of Fifth North St. The building was completed in 1893. It had no electrical wiring or plumbing until 1895. On the still treeless campus, Old Main was an imposing structure which dominated the eastern half of Logan. The roof of the South wing was used to send signals to the Signal Corps by a direct telegraphic wire and weather forecasts received from the War Dept. via a flag system. Size of drawing: 4.5 x 6.75 in.
