 Singing Up the Earth by Dennise Gackstetter

This piece, Singing Up the Earth, is created in memory of Paulus Berensohn, who was a philosopher, writer, activist, and potter. He was one of the most important mentors in my life. Paulus always said that we as humans belong to the earth. She is the mother of all and provides us with all that sustains us. As artists we use the resources from the earth to make manifest our artworks. It is our responsibility to use these gifts wisely to celebrate the earth and sing her praises. As Paulus always more poetically said, “We must sing up the earth through all we do.”
