The Return Journey
Although Grey’s account of his 1922 Rainbow Bridge ends with Rainbow Bridge, the photograph album shows otherwise. Although it is unclear which exact route Grey’s party took on the return journey, they appeared to have revisited the “Hills of Glass.” While several of these photographs still focus on the landscapes and landmarks of the area, much of the photographs more prominently feature Grey’s mistress, Louise Anderson. A few of the shots show her playing with bare feet in a spring as well as posing in a hollow rock. From the photographs, the return journey seemed to be more relaxed, despite the weariness the riders must have felt.
