Hunger & Food Security: Societal Views on Food Insecurity
Societal Views on Food Insecurity
While the issue of hunger is still prevalent today, it is much less visible than it was in the early 1900s. During times such as the Great Depression, there were many who didn't have enough food, but the situations was a well known one. Today, there are still many who don't know where their next meal will come from, but it is much less apparent. In fact, as of 2010, 15% of Cache Valley's population qualified for federal assistance in obtaining food. That's over 17,000 people living in your community who may not have enough food.
There are many attempts being made by artists and scientists alike to bring this situation to light. Inserted here is an example of an artist’s contribution to this cause. In “Hunger Pains,” Audiobinger uses instrumental and electric music to show how hunger feels.
