Dolph Andrus woke early one morning of the expedition and made this carving. According to Andrus, when Hopkins saw it he insisted that a picture be taken of him holding the chisel. Over 90 years later Dolph Andrus's son Berwyn commissioned the help of Chris Curley to find the carving. Curley's efforts were successful and he sent Berwyn the evidence in this photo.
