Rabbi Hyman Baras (1928–1929/30)

Hyman Joseph Baras, also known as Chaim, became rabbi of Congregation Brith Sholem in February 1928.[1] He was based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, before arriving to Ogden with his family. Before Plymouth, he was a rabbi in Cherbourg, France. Rabbi Baras was born in Chernowitz, Austro-Hungary, in February of 1900. He graduated from a seminary in Jerusalem, specializing in Hebrew theology.[2] After serving as rabbi in Ogden for a couple years, he went to the Bronx, New York. There Rabbi Baras established Congregation Bet Schraga.[3] He was last mentioned in The Ogden Standard-Examiner on November 4, 1929.
