Settlement of Cache Valley

Landscape view showing unidentified homes and barns in the distance

Mormon settlers came to Cache Valley in the early 1860s as religious migrants seeking to establish faith-based communities.  The first years of settlement were challenging. Settlers skirmished with Indians, battled crickets and hunger, and struggled to understand the new landscape and climate they encountered.  This section contains first hand accounts, oral histories, and short stories relating to the settlement of Cache Valley.
