CVGM Artist Spotlight

Local artist Carole Warburton has been a participant at the market for the past six years. She works with stoneware clay, creating functional pottery pieces. She is particularly fond of the idea that her art has a home in the market. In her words, “People can buy their fresh veggies and buy a homemade pottery bowl made by a local artisan, then make their salad and serve from the bowl.”

Warburton loves the market for its variety of exclusively local, handmade art and locally grown food. In addition to enjoying being a part of it, she also loves supporting others there. When asked about what role art plays in the market and broader community, she said, “I do see the art as a community builder. Not just the art, but the music featured [also] brings people together. The market is not just a place to shop. It is an event to enjoy week after week.”

Urban farming sows pathways in the Cache Valley community. Without our farms, we have no food. Likewise, without our urban farmers and gardeners, we wouldn’t have the opportunity recognize the beauty that surrounds us in the forms of plants and art. Take the time to get your hands dirty and see what you can grow between the cracks. It will benefit you, your community, and your planet.
