The media is buzzing with words like "local," "sustainable," and "organic." People are trying to seek out healthier, more wholesome foods. But what do they really mean, and is any one option truly superior? Many people assume that these buzzwords are interchangeable, but this is not the case. "Local" simply has to do with relative distances that produce or livestock travel from production site to consumers. "Organic" is a term regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture and generally means that no chemicals were used during production. "Sustainable" is often interpreted differently by individual farmers, but one theme remains constant: it will never deplete its resources. [1]

Cache Valley is well known for its abundant agriculture. On the coming page, discover Mt. Naomi Farms and Paradise Valley Orchard, two local Cache Valley farms. They each discussed how they run their farms, and how they deal with the terms local, sustainable, and organic.
