What is Permaculture

HONRS16group1-Permaculture Inforgraphic.jpg

Permaculture is a design concept for sustainable, food-producing landscapes mimicking the diversity and resilience of natural ecosystems and can be an important aspect of urban agriculture[1]. It seeks to follow natural patterns of plant growth, as well as maximize nutrient and water cycles. This approach seeks to work with Mother Nature when it comes to landscapes, rather than against her. Utah State University's Logan campus has a permaculture garden located on the north end of the Nutrition and Food Science building. The USU Moab campus also has a large permaculture garden.
