Saltair Palace & Swimming

Known as a wholesome place for the whole family, the Saltair Palace was right on the shore of the Great Salt Lake.  Swimming on the lake was also a unique experience, as due to the high amount of salt in the lake, one can't sink.  It's easy to see why this was such a popular tourist spot and so easily postcarded.

Going to Sea by Rail

This 12 mile long railroad goes right across the Great Salt Lake.  It's part of the longer 102 mile Lucin Cutoff which was constructed in 1904.  The Lucin cutoff was created as something of a shortcut to the transcontinental railroad that shaved off 44 miles of the original route.  It also provided the beautiful scenery and amazing experience of going to sea by rail.
